Why do it?

Rachael Payne posed an interesting question about Art the other day.  Does it have purpose?  The answer to that question will be unique for each individual and the reason  they attempt to appease the daemon that drives it.  This is the first in a serious of photographs explaining why I, and a few collaborator "Do" art.

Tyler Connolly

Well lets just say that the KFMX Purple Party was a big hit this year.  Of course Theory of a Deadman brought the house down with Bad Girlfriend.  Here is one of the photos from the pit of Tyler Connolly.  Cheers.

Sentinels

Transient Orcas eat marine mammals.
Sea Lions will retreat and exit the water when they are in proximity.
Seeking refuge behind the camera guy is not going to deter a 10 ton apex predator form eating said Sea Lion.

Occupational Hazards

An occupational hazard. I can now ad Sea Lion to the list of critters that have chewed on me.  For the most part  Sea lions are docile.  However, when about half dozen of them start nipping at you, it can be a little unnerving.

Just finished up a photo session with the most talented Alexandra Grattan modeling Vicki Tracy clothing line from the Bernina Studio. I had tons of help from my incredible MUAH Cherie LeGard.

Billy

Found this while I was digging through the archives for a publication request.  Gotta love Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top.  As a young man I would have never imagine photographing or even meeting this guy but the camera has been kind to me.  One interesting note,  the older band members are very aware of the cameras in the pit.  They usually stop and pose for the shot.  The first time this happened was with Richie McDonald.  I had a technical issue with my rig, he stopped the song while I fixed the camera to take the picture.  He even announced to the audiences the camera guys having some technical issues.  I felt about 2 inches tall.

After Burner

I must admit Emma makes my job easy.  Of course after about a dozen session we pretty much have each other figured out by now.  Gotta love glamor photography.
